About BCHBA

The Brown County Home Builders Association (BCHBA) is a member-based, non-profit organization established in 1956. The BCHBA is dedicated to providing services to our membership and striving for safe, affordable housing for everyone in Brown County. Our dedications to the industry and quality of elevated leadership have made us one of the most influential trade associations in the state.

Currently our local Association membership is 725+ members strong and growing. These firms represent approximately 30,000 employees in Northeast Wisconsin.

Membership

Membership in the BCHBA is divided into two categories: Builder and Associate.

  • Associate Member
Any person, firm or corporation engaged in a trade, industry or profession related to shelter construction remodeling or land development, and not inconsistent with the objective of the Brown County Home Builders Association and is of good character and good business reputation, shall be eligible.
  • Builder Member
Any person, firm, or corporation currently in the business of shelter construction, land development, or remodeling; and agrees to subscribe to the Code of Ethics and Bylaws of this Association; and is of good character and business reputation; and has successfully completed the required education programs as described in the Brown County Home Builders Associations Procedure manual for Builder members as designated by the Brown County Home Builders Association Board of Directors, shall be eligible to be a Builder member.

This person, firm, or corporation must have successfully completed and filed with the Wisconsin Department of Commerce a Business Credential Application and have been granted a Dwelling Contractor Certification (DCC). In addition a BCHBA builder member of record must complete and file a Wisconsin Department of Commerce Credential Application and be granted a Dwelling Contractor Qualifier Certification (DCQ). Also, according to the Wisconsin Department of Commerce, a builder must renew his DCQ and is contingent upon the builder qualifier obtaining at least 12 hours of acceptable continuing education three months prior to the expiration date of their credential, which is two years after the start date of the credential. If at any time the DCQ and/or DCC become invalid, that Builder's membership will be transferred to an Associate membership until such time that the DCQ and/or DCC are deemed valid by the Wisconsin Department of Commerce and verified by the BCHBA.

To be eligible to participate in the Spring & Fall Showcase of New Homes and the Tour of Remodeled Homes, a member must be an approved Builder member prior to the final deadline to withdraw an entry. The member must also have held a membership in the BCHBA for a minimum of one (1) year prior to the event.
